The VHL Brazil Network participates at the XX National Seminar of University Libraries

The Brazilian Network of Health Science Information was present in the XX Seminário Nacional de Bibliotecas Universitárias (SNBU – XX University Libraries National Seminar), which took place in Salvador, Bahia, on April 15-20. The seminar addressed the theme “Future of the University Library in the perspective of education, innovation, creation, research and extension”.

snbu_2018_1The Latin American and Caribbean Center on Health Science Information (BIREME/PAHO/WHO) and the Coordenação Geral de Documentação e Informação da Secretaria Executiva do Ministério da Saúde (CGDI/SE/MS – General Documentation and Information Coordination of the Executive Secretariat of the Ministry of Health) provided a stand and an extensive program of presentations focused on the interests of the Brazilian network and other participants.

The participation of BIREME at the main events related to health information meets the line of its Biannual Work Plan which are destined to the strengthening of the collaboration network for information management, counting with the Virtual Health Library (VHL) as a strategy for information management and access and for the promotion of access and use of information.

snbu_2018_2With eight presentations a day, on average, and the participation of about 600 people, the activities at the stand addressed different themes of interest to the network and the congressmen and women, such as My VHL service, elaboration of search and research strategies in the VHL, information architecture and adoption of the Word Press system in the VHL, thematic indexing and evaluation criteria of LILACS journals, BiblioSUS network and presentations of the VHL Brazil and the VHL of the Ministry of Health, among others. In addition to the presentations, individual attention was given to participants, the registration of potential new collaborators was effectuated, and technical meetings were held, as well as the transmission of the official launch of the 10th edition of the Regional Congress on Health Science Information (CRICS10), 7th Regional Meeting of the Virtual Health Library and satellite meetings to be held on December 4 to 6 in São Paulo, Brazil.

snbu_2018_3The presentations and other activities of the stand were run by the representatives of the technical areas of training and research, technology, VHL management, and information sources of BIREME; by the representatives of the VHL Ministry of Health and VHL Brazil coordination; as well as the representatives of the VHL Cancer Prevention and Control, VHL Bioethics and Diplomacy in Health, Hansen’s Disease VHL and Instituto Evandro Chagas VHL.

According to User’s Services collaborator Rosemeire Rocha Pinto, “this type of promotion is an asset for the strengthening of the Brazilian network, since cooperative participation in the activities favors information and knowledge exchange, integrates teams and contributes for the creation of new products and services”.
