During an event in São Paulo, Brazil, the TMGL received contributions for its improvement. Scheduled to be launched in December 2025, the platform advances the promotion of inclusion and innovation, bringing together traditional knowledge, artificial intelligence, accessibility resources, and social participation.

The Regional Consultation on Research Prioritization in Traditional, Complementary and Integrative Medicines (TCIM), promoted by PAHO/WHO and BIREME in São Paulo, brought together experts from the Americas to define strategic actions for the protection of ancestral knowledge and its articulation within primary health care. The event highlighted the importance of intercultural dialog in line with the new WHO Global Traditional Medicines Strategy.

Representatives from BIREME and the World Health Organization (WHO) visited reference centers for integrative and indigenous health in São Paulo, Brazil to learn about pioneering experiences in the city’s Unified Health System (SUS). The visits highlighted the value of traditional knowledge, cultural integration, and innovations in health care in urban and indigenous territories, strengthening global dialogue for the consolidation of the WHO Traditional Medicine Global Library.

The reactivation of the Advisory Committee of the Dominican Republic VHL marks a new stage for the visibility and consolidation of the country’s national scientific output. The initiative, which expands access to scientific and technical health information and strengthens collaborative work among universities, documentation centers, medical societies, and agencies of the Ministry of Health, is supported by BIREME and institutional partners.

BIREME’s work in the Caribbean has gained prominence in recent weeks, consolidating technical cooperation with countries in the region to strengthen health systems by expanding access to scientific and technical information produced by countries in the region. Check out the activities carried out in June in Curaçao and in May in Trinidad and Tobago.

An internal event, BIREME’s traditional June Festival marked the completion of strategic institutional events and activities and provided an opportunity for socializing and celebrating Brazilian popular traditions. BIREME employees and colleagues from PAHO Headquarters and member countries participated in a relaxed and inclusive environment, helping to strengthen the Center’s organizational climate.
