The tenth edition of the Regional Congress on Health Sciences Information (CRICS10), which has as a central theme: “Advancing towards the 2030 Agenda: Contributions of evidence and knowledge”, will keep the tradition of hosting Satellite Events of the strategic relation network of BIREME/PAHO/WHO in the field of health information and knowledge, along with the seventh edition of the Regional Coordination Meeting of the Virtual Health Library (VHL7).
CRICS has been hosted by several cities, such as San José, Costa Rica; Havana, Cuba; Puebla, Mexico; São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Salvador, Brazil; and Washington D.C., U.S.A. In the last couple of decades, CRICS has held over 30 satellite events and, for its tenth edition, it will return with five more events to the city of São Paulo, where the CRICS series began in 1992 and that will host it in 2018 at the Centro de Convenções Rebouças.
Of the five satellite events of CRICS10, three will be held at the same time as the VHL7, on December 4: the Meeting of Scientific Editors, the IV Meeting of the VHL Developers’ Network (RedDes) and the Meeting of the Primary Health Care Network (APS) in the Americas. The two remaining events will be held on December 7, after the Congress, at BIREME/PAHO/WHO headquarters: the Meeting of the Virtual Campus of Public Health (CVSP) and the Meeting of PAHO/WHO K-Centers.
The Meeting of Scientific Editors seeks to establish a critical discussion forum on the access, quality and visibility of scientific research on health published in LILACS indexed journals. This is essential for strengthening bibliographic control, open access and the increased visibility of the scientific and technical output of Latin America and Caribbean countries.
The IV Meeting of RedDes aims at promoting discussion and sharing experiences and knowledge on information technology, methodology and collaborative work processes on information management and health knowledge through five main themes: VHL technology platform, innovation in information services, data visualization, digital repositories and reference databases.
The Meeting of the Primary Health Care Network Americas will focus on presenting and debating on improvements and innovations in health technology for the strengthening of primary health care program and project management, facilitating direct communication with professionals involved in these programs, producing data and information, as well as acknowledging and exchanging experiences and knowledge between countries of the Region of the Americas.
The CVSP Meeting has as a central theme the Network of Repositories for Open Educational Resources (REA), with the objective of strengthening the Regional Strategy of REA CVSP/VHL within the framework of the Regional, Subregional and Campus countries’ instances.
The K-Centers Meeting – PAHO/WHO Knowledge Management focal points – intends to discuss the main projects and results achieved during the years 2017 and 2018, as well as the perspectives for the new PAHO/WHO 2020-2025 Strategic Plan.
The execution of these events, within the framework of the CRICS and the Regional Coordination Meeting of the VHL, enhances opportunities for collaborative work and strengthens BIREME/PAHO/WHO technical cooperation.
Save the date: December 4 to 6, 2018, in São Paulo, Brazil.
