To recognize the results achieved in 2024, BIREME promoted an activity for the development of its staff, held on December 10, with the theme “Successful teams and psychological safety”. Led by facilitator Rogério Cortes, the meeting brought together the entire team for a day of integration and reflection in a relaxed atmosphere. It was possible to strengthen the bonds between the staff, promoting a collaborative and inspiring environment to continue with confidence in achieving the challenges of 2025, stated Director João Paulo Souza, in his opening speech at the event.
The program was structured around concepts and practices that encouraged the exchange of experiences and the development of interpersonal skills. The Aristotle Project study, which investigates “How to build a successful team”, was cited to introduce the central theme and guide the concepts worked on throughout the day. Based on this premise, the participants were invited to reflect on and apply essential practices for strengthening teamwork, especially effective communication and psychological safety.
In an inspiring speech about the new processes implemented and the achievements of the year, Director João Paulo Souza said: “It’s been a good year, a year to be thankful for. May we move forward smoothly, treading lightly on the dryness and carrying our values, to prepare ourselves for the steps we will take next year.” The Director thanked everyone for attending and acknowledged the work of the event’s organizers, including facilitator Rogério Cortes and managers Silvia de Almeida de Valentin and Verônica Abdala, coordinator Marcos Mori, and Jobar Farias, Human Resources analyst at BIREME.
Contents covered
Throughout the day, Rogério Cortes led the group through reflections and dynamics based on essential themes for the development of successful teams. The following concepts were explored:
- Psychological safety: The belief that no one will be punished or humiliated for expressing ideas, doubts or making mistakes, guaranteeing a safe environment for innovation.
- Trust: The basis of healthy and productive relationships, with a focus on transparency, empathy and mutual recognition.
- Assertive communication: The ability to express ideas and needs clearly and respectfully, avoiding noise and misunderstandings.
- Feedback: The importance of a culture of constructive feedback and “feedforward”, i.e. a look to the future, focused on suggestions and actions that can be implemented to improve performance and promote continuous learning and growth.
- Emotional intelligence: The ability to identify, understand and manage one’s own emotions and those of others, strengthening interpersonal relationships and teamwork.
These themes were discussed in a practical way and applied in activities that encouraged collaboration, trust and the development of joint solutions.
Dramatization: an activity that combines theory and practice
One of the highlights of the workshop was the dramatization activity, divided into four parts: First Act, Second Act, Third Act and Closing Epilogue. Inspired by critical and typical situations in the workplace, the dynamic challenged the participants to construct a dramatized story as a group, which was refined and enhanced throughout the day.
Starting with an initial scenario that required creative solutions, the participants incorporated essential values such as assertive communication, feedback, trust and emotional intelligence. Each “act” was an opportunity to improve dialogues, seeking joint solutions and evolving the use of communication resources. The results were presented in theatrical sketches lasting up to five minutes, in which the groups brought characters to life using costumes, props and playful elements available on site.
This practical activity promoted a relaxed and collaborative atmosphere, allowing all employees to participate actively, reflect on their own practices and envision new possibilities for interaction and problem-solving.
Closing with words of gratitude
Closing the meeting, Director João Paulo Souza stressed the importance of this transition moment: “We are closing a cycle, closing a year, and changing phases in the organization and in the stage of implementation that we are doing internally. May we carry this spirit of psychological security throughout our days, preparing us to handle the challenges of 2025 with confidence.” The Director ended with a message of recognition and good wishes: “I wish you and your families Happy Holidays and a 2025 with health, peace and the hope that next year will be even better.”
According to Silvia de Almeida Valentin, Administration and Planning Manager, the closing event reinforced BIREME’s commitment to the well-being and development of its teams, promoting a more integrated, collaborative and innovative work environment. “We are certain that the activity contributed to strengthening our skills profiles and professional, personal and human development,” she concluded, acknowledging everyone for their participation.
