EIH Director accompanies new projects and digital transformation at BIREME

During his visit to BIREME, Sebastián García Saisó, Director of the Department of Evidence and Intelligence for Action in Health (EIH) at PAHO, participated in the Governance Committee sessions and a series of strategic meetings focused on the implementation of the 2023-2025 Strategy. Throughout the week, discussions with the Center’s teams centered on the ongoing digital transformation projects and the work priorities for the coming years.

Results of SMS-São Paulo VHL in the first semester

BIREME/PAHO/WHO, in cooperation with the São Paulo Municipal Health Secretariat (SMS-SP), continues to make progress in maintaining, updating and developing the SMS São Paulo VHL. Among the activities carried out in the first half of 2024 were the publication of a new Window of Knowledge, the recording of four new Experience Reports and a training workshop for SMS-SP’s technical areas. These efforts are part of Phase III of the Technical Cooperation project established between the institutions since 2010, which aims to consolidate and strengthen local information and knowledge management capacities.

TC95 by BIREME and CGDI/MoH: results and perspectives

Virtual Health Library has a new platform for integrated access to GRADE Guidelines, Recommendations and Maps

New online portal provides and integrates three of the most important clinical and public health decision support services based on WHO and PAHO guidelines and recommendations. Searches on the site retrieve information from a collection of more than 5,000 evidence guides developed by the GRADE system for grading the quality of evidence and strength of recommendations for health decision-making.

2023 in Retrospective: BIREME accelerates the digital transformation of health information

2023 was marked by important events for public health and PAHO, with the start of Dr Jarbas Barbosa’s term as director of the Organization in January and the announcement of the end of the COVID-19 global emergency in May. At BIREME, the first year of director João Paulo Souza’s tenure included the approval of the new Strategy 2023-2025, which guides the use of scientific information for health action while accelerating the digital transformation of the sector toward PAHO’s mission of Health for All. EVIPNet Brazil holds meeting looking for sustainable strengthening

The II National Meeting of EVIPNet Brazil was held in Brasilia on November 21 and 22, with more than 200 participants, including BIREME. The event promoted discussions on the institutionalization of Evidence-Informed Policy (PIE) and its application in favor of sustainable and equitable development of the Unified Health System.

BIREME presents 2023 results of the Cooperation Terms with the Brazilian MoH (Part I – TC93)

Check out the results achieved by BIREME in the context of Cooperation Term TC93 (Part I). Developed in coordination with the Ministry of Health of Brazil and PAHO/WHO, the information and knowledge management carried out by BIREME impacts the entire health network of publication, organization, access, and use of scientific and technical information, facilitating the use of evidence in clinical decision-making and management processes. The reports also highlight the regional reach of the Center’s activities, with replicable and reusable activities, products, and services at the local, national, and regional levels.
