The 35th anniversary of LILACS was marked by an online session that took place on 29 October accompanied by more than 400 connections, with the participation of with the participation of Jarbas Barbosa, PAHO/WHO Assistant Director, Sebastian García, Director of the Department of Evidence and Intelligence for Action in Health, and BIREME collaborators, who made presentations on the history, present and future of LILACS, under the moderation of the Director of BIREME, Diego González.

LILACS: trajectory of commitment and innovation for access to scientific and technical health information in Latin America and the Caribbean
LILACS celebrated its 35th birthday on October 29, 2020, but its history started many years earlier, in many ways intertwined with BIREME’s history, created in 1967. In fact, the prospect of creating a bibliographic index of the literature of Region started in 1967, on the recommendation of BIREME’ Scientific Committee. LILACS journals selection criteria are updated to prepare for open science
The selection and permanence criteria of LILACS journals, effective as of October 29, 2020, were launched during the celebration of the database’s 35 years and aim to consolidate the selection criteria LILACS Brazil and LILACS Nursing and meet preparations for Open Science in journals indexed in the database.
